BusinessDictionary.com defines collaboration as ʺa cooperative arrangement in which two or more parties (which may or may not have any previous relationship) work together toward a common goal.ʺ

I thrive in collaborative settings.  Over the years, I have been invited to work on amazing senior-level industry projects. To team with eBay’s Corporate Communications department and its Manhattan PR agency of record.  To create, write and co-host a television program for The Lifetime Channel – an entire season of shows (I have all the respect in the world for entertainers!).  To serve on a team of six at a Ringo Starr collector plate signing in Beverly Hills.  To work with Hospice of Michigan on a fundraiser, where I managed the PR and celebrity handling for a red-carpet movie premiere of The Polar Express, raising $1.3 million for pediatric hospice.  To serve as executive director of two national trade organizations.

The above collaborations were exhilarating:  The process. The brainstorming. The execution. The camaraderie.

Fast forward to 2011 when I sold my PR and marketing company, Professional Marketing, and launched the Carnevale Jones Group.  The day the announcement was made people asked me, “So what are you going to do now?”  I had many ideas, but made the decision to take my time and choose wisely, as I made this very important transition.

The answer became very clear.  There are so many unmet needs in the gift and home industries and other industries.  I began to think about the possibilities and the unmet needs.  Where can you locate a good writer – and sometimes at the last minute?  As a company president, where do you seek counsel on important business issues – when it’s not always possible to discuss certain topics with your trusted colleagues or family members? Where do you turn when you want to sell your business, your business is failing, or your business is thriving and you’re not sure how to grow it?

Again, the answer became very clear.  I am blessed to have many friends who are thought leaders.  What would happen if I started a Consortium with them?  Or maybe two?  Or maybe three?  Well, we’re about to find out, as The Carnevale Jones Group website officially launches within a day!

The Power of Collaboration.  I can’t wait to interface with my colleagues, my friends, as we embark on a mission to serve companies, providing them with innovative services and counsel.  The best is yet to come…
